Properties:

Folic acid contributes to cell division and maternal and fetal tissue growth during pregnancy.

It’s recommended that every lady take a daily supplement of folic acid when she is pregnant, or there’s a chance she might get pregnant.

She should take a 400 microgram supplement of folic acid every day for 4 weeks before pregnancy, and every day afterward, up until 12 weeks of gestational age.

Also, folic acid is highly required during the second and third trimesters of pregnancy and during the lactation period.

Folic acid is given to women intending to become pregnant and in the early months of pregnancy to reduce the risk of neural tube defects and other birth defects .

Vitamin B1 and B2, niacin, and vitamin B5 (pantothenic acid) support normal energy metabolism.
